Omida said that since the second quarter of last year, the notebook panel has grown for five consecutive quarters. Although the brand manufacturers have concerns about the overorder of the panel demand, but from the overall demand and terminal inventory analysis, the notebook is still expected to maintain high grade in the second half of the year, and estimated that the proportion of notebook panel shipments in the second half of the year will reach 49:51.
In addition to maintaining high-end demand, Omida said some panel makers have also revised up their laptop panel shipment targets for this year. Among them, after BOE, a large panel manufacturer, merged with CEC Panda, the annual shipment of laptop panels will reach 75.5 million pieces, hitting a record high. Huike, LGD, and second-line panel manufacturers Sharp, HSD, IVO are also cooperating with customers to upgrade shipment targets.
Omida said consumer demand for laptops will gradually slow, while continued growth in commercial demand will support overall laptop panel shipments. Global demand for educational programs is expected to drive Chromebook shipments to 39 million units this year, with about 51% annual increase, as a major driver.
Strong demand from brand factories has also raised concerns about excess orders in the market. Omida believes that in the second half of the year, continued attention should be paid to terminal inventory levels, manufacturer cost management, and supply chain component price changes.
